Structural Analysis – Aesthetic Structures
Bisca staff have considerable experience in producing structurally viable products that are also aesthetically satisfying.
Structural design is vital to ensure the long term stability, safety and durability of architectural and other structures.
Structural design is carried out in association with an industry leading structural engineering practice who can bring to bear the full body of current structural knowledge and analysis including Finite Element Analysis.
We have particular experience in designing with structural metal products, timber, and structural glass.
Design for manufacturing
We have many years of experience in the design of products to suit a range of manufacturing processes. These include:
- Manual metal forging
- Laser, plasma and water jet profiling of metals
- Forming of sheet metal and structural metal plates.
- Welding
- Metal and timber machining.
Bisca staff also have a unique level of experience in applying mechanical engineering processes and tolerances to the design and manufacture of architectural structures.
Our capabilities included working with a range of materials including steel, copper, aluminium, glass and timber.
This manufacturing expertise is backed up systems that allow us to produce comprehensive production information. Computer based solid modelling enables us to assess designs and processes in a virtual environment. Production data can be created both as paper documents and electronic information.

Mechanical Design
Mechanisms are an essential part of any product, structure or building from a simple hinge to a complex device.
At Bisca we offer a full design service for mechanisms and have particular expertise in applying mainstream mechanical & industrial design in an architectural environment. Our concern is, where appropriate, to provide mechanical design solutions which are aesthetically appealing as well as functional.
We have the technology to simulate mechanism operation and validate designs before manufacture. Prototypes and pre-production builds can also be constructed in-house.
