Procedures
Our project process is rigorous and following your initial enquiry is broken down into five key stages. These are designed to ensure that we continually understand and meet your requirements. The process is detailed below:
Stage 1 - Initial proposal
It is at this stage that we begin to review your requirements in detail and formulate our preliminary design solutions. At the end of this process we will send you a written proposal document that contains:
- An initial definition of your brief.
- An outline written definition of our proposed design solution.
- An initial cost estimate. This is not a formal quotation but is a reasoned indication of the likely cost of the project.
- Outline schematic plans if appropriate
With this proposal we include a further authorisation form. This asks you to confirm that our Initial Proposal is acceptable and authorises us to continue to the next stage – Design Commission. You will also be asked to agree to a Design Fee that is typically 10% of the total project value. This fee again only becomes payable should the project not continue to Stage 2 with four weeks.
Subject to your approval we then begin Stage 2.
Stage 2 - Design Commission
During the Design Commission stage we aim to fully define the project and resolve all the necessary design solutions. At the end of this process we will meet with you personally and present:
- A firm contract price.
- Concept sketches or computer visuals of the commission in situ.
- Visuals of significant detail areas of the design.
- A full written Project Specification.
- A Scope of Works setting areas of responsibility and project timescales.
This set of information means that a firm basis for the design has been established and the project cost defined. It is at this stage that we ask you to authorise us to proceed to Stage 3, Full Commission, and to pay a deposit that is a proportion of the project value.
Having received your authorisation and deposit we then move on to Stage 3.
Stage 3 - Full Commission
We now take our preliminary designs and resolve these into a fully detailed design capable of manufacture. Every issue is completely resolved from structural integrity to compliance with Building Regulations. Every part is specified, designed and drawn from the largest fabrication to the smallest fixing. The design is cross-checked against the Project Specification to ensure that we continue to meet your brief.
The conclusion of this work is for us to issue you with a Client Presentation Pack. This pack will contain:
- Computer generated visuals of all areas of the commission.
- Engineering drawings, plans & elevations of the overall arrangement of the project together with key dimensions.
- Final versions of the Project Specification and Scope of Works.
We then ask you to review this information and provide written authorisation for us to proceed to manufacture the commission. This authorisation should be accompanied by a stage payment.
If you are completely happy with our proposal we conclude the project with Stage 4:
Stage 4 - Manufacture
The component parts of the commission are manufactured, finished and assembled in our workshop. This assembly process allows us to finally check the whole commission before delivery to site.
The focus of this stage is quality of assembly and finish. Due to the diverse nature of our products we work with a range of subcontracting partners who can bring their own specialist skills to bear from areas such as laser profile cutting, precision machining, timber engineering and glass manufacture.
These subcontracting partners receive manufacturing
information directly from our design systems to guarantee accuracy and quality.
Communication is also an essential part of this process. We will liaise with your structural engineers, architects and builders to ensure all interfaces have been concluded correctly and that the commission can be installed in the most efficient way possible.
At the end of this stage we ask you to sign-off the manufactured parts and complete an authorisation form to enable us to proceed to Install the commission. This authorisation should also be accompanied by a stage payment.
Stage 5 - Installation
We then proceed to install the commission. The installation work is undertaken by trained Bisca staff who are committed to completing every detail to your satisfaction.
After installation we ask for your last and final stage payment and consider the project to be complete.
The success of every project relies upon the personal relationship that we establish with our clients throughout the project process. We aim to communicate with you clearly and comprehensively with written documentation, sketches, visuals and drawings.
