A novel wine storage solution in the form of a wine wall for Lollo Rosso restaurant in Morpeth.
Ironmongers John Smail & Sons were the previous owners of the former hardware shop. The building is a prominent feature on Morpeth’s Bridge Street and valued for its local history. The new restaurant interior scheme respected its industrial heritage and retained exposed timber and structural steels.
In addition to the feature staircase in the restaurant, Bisca were asked to design, manufacture and install a “wine rack” in the form of a feature wall and room divider.
The wine wall is free-standing, and fixed to the floor by timber floor shoes matching the flooring. Racks are of stainless steel and hand finished to a satin polish.
The cantilevered bottle holders provide a decorative and functional solution to wine storage as well as a talking point for diners.
Staff find the bottles easy to slot in and out; however as part of the project Bisca researched, tested and implemented a solution that restricts removal of bottles from the wall by anyone without a key.
A wine wall would be fantastic in a smaller scale for a domestic situation - why not consider it as part of your build or refurbishment?
