House Beautiful Feb 2016 features this lovely oak cantilever staircase by Bisca as part of an article on staircases.
Bisca designed this staircase as part of a barn conversion. The design features chunky green oak treads and leather handrail. Uprights forged, formed and blackened by our Blacksmith.
Green oak is not for the faint hearted as it fissures beautifully as it dries out over time. If you don’t want the very rustic look a very similar look can be achieved with air dried or kiln dried oak. Kiln drying removes moisture, therefore timber does not have the same drying properties as green oak.
