Bisca designs and manufactures luxury bespoke staircases from our headquarters in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. Our staircase commissions sit at the centre of some of the world’s most impressive homes, combining craftsmanship, engineering, and innovation to create stunning architectural statements.
Our reputation has been built over three decades by people who care deeply about quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement. We are now in search of a Workshop Assistant to join our operations team – somebody who wants to be part of a forward-thinking business and take genuine ownership for advancing our workshop environment.
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience + benefits
Hours: Full Time with flexibility out of hours / on weekends, as projects demand
The Opportunity
This is not a typical workshop role. You will become a key member of the team – leading and maintaining standards, organisation, and processes which will set the foundations firmly in place for developing one of the UK’s most forward thinking manufacturing environments.
From supporting craftsmen with staircase assembly; to improving workshop systems; maintaining tools and equipment; organising stores; managing stock; and ensuring our workshop operates as efficiently as possible – your role will be critical to the future performance of Bisca and the operations function.

Key Responsibilities
You will support the day-to-day running and continual improvement of our workshops, taking ownership of:
Workshop organisation, upkeep, and presentation
Stores management, stock control, and material handling
Supporting craftsmen with assembly and manufacturing tasks
Maintenance of tools, machinery, vehicles, and workshop equipment
Packing, loading, and preparing staircase components
Delivery checking, labelling, and inventory management
Record keeping, maintenance logs, and workshop documentation
Maintaining exceptionally high standards across all workshop areas
