Staircase Replacement

A dated spiral staircase presented both practical and aesthetic challenges within this beautiful Georgian mansion. The goal was to create a comfortable, safe and beautifully crafted oak staircase that complemented the wider renovation.

The existing spiral staircase was difficult to use and lacked visual appeal, creating a complex challenge within the wider project. As staircase specialists, Bisca provided a solution which enhanced functionality, while considering aesthetics with materiality.

A digital survey enabled the team to develop a layout which optimised the going of the staircase whilst reducing the rise of each tread. The resulting L-shaped, winder staircase combines warm oak treads, slim mild-steel, twin-stringers and a precision-crafted glass balustrade. Its open-rise design maximises the sense of space and allows natural light to flow freely, while the oak brings warmth to the refurbished interior.

The result is a modern oak staircase which transforms a previously impractical and dated structure into an integral part of a beautifully designed interior.
